Services Dr. Lucas Offers
As a longtime Fort Lauderdale orthodontist, Dr. Lucas offers several services to his patients to give them a wide variety of treatment options.
-
Traditional braces
Traditional metal braces are a common orthodontic treatment with a high rate of success. Braces work by gradually shifting teeth into alignment over time, treating problems such as overbite, underbite, crossbite, crookedness, overcrowding, and gaps between teeth. Metal brackets are bonded to each tooth using an adhesive. A wire and elastic bands anchor the brackets. The wire will be adjusted by Dr. Lucas every few weeks until your teeth are straight. Treatment usually lasts around 15-18 months.
-
Ceramic braces
Also known as clear braces, ceramic braces feature bigger brackets than traditional metal braces but are available in clear or natural tooth color to provide patients with a less visible treatment option. However, treatment may take longer.
-
InBrace®
InBrace® is a revolutionary technological advancement in orthodontics that provides a more convenient and invisible type of braces treatment. Dr. Lucas will mount metal brackets on the back of your teeth. These are known as lingual braces. The difference is that InBrace® features a wavy Smartwire™ that makes your braces invisible and easier to floss around.
-
Invisalign® and Invisalign Teen®
Unlike braces, Invisalign® is a series of clear removable aligner trays that also gradually shift your teeth into alignment. You wear the aligners for 22 hours a day and switch to a new set every two weeks to begin the next stage of shifting. You can remove the aligners, making eating and cleaning much easier. This treatment lasts 12-15 months and results in little change to your lifestyle.
Dr. Lucas also offers Invisalign Teen®, which is no different from regular Invisalign® except that each tray features a blue dot that will fade away the more you wear them. This allows parents to check on their child’s progress so they can remind them to wear their aligners if necessary.
-
Retainers
Dr. Lucas provides retainers for patients to wear after braces or Invisalign® treatment concludes. Patients will wear the retainer every day for six months. After that, they can just wear the retainer at night.
-
Emergency Care
If you have a dental emergency, Dr. Lucas is dedicated to providing emergency care to his patients.
Technology Dr. Lucas Uses
-
iTero 3D Digital Scanner
An iTero scanner is an imaging machine that creates a 3D map of your teeth, eliminating the need to take a traditional mold of teeth via biting down on a plaster-like substance.
-
Propel Vpro5
This technology can speed up your treatment by up to 50 percent. Patients insert and gently bite down on the product, which sends vibrations through your teeth to stimulate an increase in shifting.
